HELPING PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH THE COMPLEXITIES OF A RELATIONSHIP BREAKDOWN, PARENTING AND DIVORCE.


Relationship breakdowns have been identified as a factor in more than half of all completed suicides amongst Queensland Construction workers. In ongoing case management relationship breakdowns continually appears as amongst the most common issues faced by workers in the industry.

Marital and family relationship breakdown can:

Effect children
Adjustment problems
Difficulty with affection and communication

Effect parents
Suicide
Poor mental and physical health

Consequences
Legal conflict and poor finances
Lead to ineffective parenting
Absenteeism and poor performance

OzHelp is offering a program to help people deal with the complexities of relationship breakdown, parenting and divorce. OzHelp can also provide support and assistance while linking workers to other workers in a similar situation as well as other agencies and groups. The program help separated workers developing a structure during a time of confusion, while reaching personal goals in self care, staying connected with the children and developing a business like working relationship with the other parent.

The OzHelp Staying Connected program is based on the Child Support Agency workshop of the same name. The program also offers workers opportunities to get advice and information from Legal Practitioners, the Child Support Agency and an understanding of a separation seen from a child’s perspective.
